Program Description
The Computer Animation and Web Page Design Program is designed for students interested in acquiring new media skills and who are interested in the combination of art and technology.

Recommended Prerequisite: Creative student, interested in the combination of art and technology.

Curriculum Components
Computer Animation Component
Takes advantage of state-of-the-art 2D and 3D digital computer hardware and software used in creating such Pixar Films as Cars. Students will learn to visualize their ideas in 3D space, learning photorealistic rendering techniques, low polygon modeling, and use video editing tools to create animations and movies.

Web Design Component
Has students creating a number of different types of web sites, from clean XHTML with CSS, to dynamic sites using PHP, to interactive Flash sites and video games incorporating animation and effective use of Action script. Students will design web sites with creative interfaces, strong graphic images, functional site organization and logical navigation.

Program Objectives
Some of the objectives of this course are to learn about the aesthetic and technical roles of design in the fields of web design and development, 3D visualization and animation, along with the more general principles of graphic design, computer networks, FTP protocol and general use of the internet.

Career Academy Opportunity and Rewards
Students will have the opportunity to take college classes specifically related to Computer Animation and Web Design classwork such as 2D Design. Students also have the opportunity to receive 6 Vermont State College credits for attending the program. Those credits include: "Web Site Design and Management" and "Intro to Flash Animation". Students attending Computer Animation I and II have the opportunity to earn up to 18 college credits over two years.

Certifications/What's Next?
Upon completion of the Web Design component of the program, students will have the required skills to take an internationally recognized web certification exam through the "World Organization of Webmasters". The "World Organization of Webmasters" is a community of thousands of Web professionals worldwide assuring professional competency.

Upon graduation of the program, students will have an interactive online portfolio of their best work to take on to higher education, internships, or the work force. Their portfolio will be representative of their skills and experiences gained through the year-long study.
